i've decided to give up on any outside
interests.
thanks for all your kinds those of
you who visit here. but it is all
distraction. i was never meant to be
happy and fulfilled. it is not my lot
in life and i realize that now.
all there is is work

You only really lose if you give up. If you have a thousand failures before finally achieving what you were trying to achieve, you are a success after 1001 tries and a failure if you stop at 1000. The numbers were something like that for Edison trying to invent the light bulb.
In science, you start with the end in mind. You determine what you want to achieve, come up with a plan to get there (a set of experiments or whatever) and then you execute that plan. I don't see why a life plan has to be much different. Figure out what you want, come up with a real plan for achieving that and then do it.
It seems like you want to give up because you can't imagine your plan - like a guy who wants to talk to a beautiful girl but is so busy imagining how he'll be rejected that he can't imagine success and so he never even says "Hi".
It's your life. You take responsibility and make it what you want it to be or let others control it and let it be crap.
I'm your friend and I'll support you whatever you choose but make no mistake, whatever happens to you is by your choice. You choose how you react to anything and if someone else chooses something for you, usually something you didn't want, it's because you chose to give them that power.
I believe you can make yourself very successful and happy but not until you believe it.
Wishing you all the best.
DL
Go read Eckhart Tolle or some positive shit like that right now!
thansk for the encouragement, DL. feeling bit better since i wrote that the other day.
most days i get home from work and i'm so physically and mentally exhausted i lose sight of everything except the next day of work. it is relentless.
i'm sticking it out for awhile longer. i have some leads and i'm going to hunt down more. if none of it pans out, by then i'll have some $$ saved and bail out on this bullshit.
